Two new Jarmusch films premieres - Only on Vukovar Film Festival 2016

„This is less of a documentary and more of a love letter“, cult director Jim Jarmusch said about his new masterpiece dedicated to band The Stooges and Iggy Pop, that premiered in Cannes, along his new feature film „Paterson“ made of sevene vignettes on a life of a bus driver who would like to be a poet

Only a few festivals in the world can be proud to host two new Jim Jarmusch film premieres. After Cannes Film Festivals world premieres of his new films „Paterson“ and documentary “Gimmie Danger“, the Croatian premieres of these titles take place on the10th Vukovar Film Festival!

„Paterson“ is a story of Paterson, bus driver in the city of Paterson. Portrayed by Adam Driver, it became Jarmusch’s joke that Adam got the „bus driver“ role for his last name – Driver. The film is divided into seven stories during seven days. Each day begins in the same fashion – Paterson wakes besides his wife between 6 and 6.30 am, leaves for work, the coworker from whom he takes over complains about his life, he listens to passenger's conversation during the drive, and after work goes out to a local pub. After that, he returns home where his black and white colour combination – muffin making  wife waits for him. Each day is a little bit different from the other, and each day brings a new little touch to their life. Seven vignettes describe Paterson as he strives to become a poet – creating poems as he drives the bus, and writing them afterwards. Jarmusch was inspired by a life story of William Carlos Williams, physician who paralleled as poet.

Documentary “Gimme Danger”  bears the same title as the song of Iggy Pop’s band – The Stooges from their 1973 epic album “ Raw Power” produced by Iggy Pop and David Bowie. This amazing story on the sixties and the seventies is another Jim Jarmusch masterpiece but not his first cooperation with Iggy Pop who has smaller roles in “Coffee and Cigarettes” and “Dead Man”. “ This is less of a documentary and more of a love letter” said Jarmusch about the hardest work – getting the photo and video material records of The Stooges.

“ I searched for footage that has not been seen to provide for a film that is wild, messy, funny, emotional, strong – just as were The Stooges themselves” – explained Jarmusch so Iggy Pop called people he considered might have video records from that time. “I called fans, narcodealers, strange followers of the band and told them “Give the man what he asks ” adds Iggy Pop who claims to have only a photo with his parents from those days.
