At first considered to be vulgar fun, the film industry had a really rough start. In 1911, young enthusiast Grigore, the son of a great stage performer, wanted to be the first big Romanian movie director.

With a help of a rich patron, Grigore starts his adventure. Then, just as today, art was affected by all, mostly influental people, from King of Romania, who chose the cast, to the local movie moguls, who sensed competition.
