Synopsis

INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL FOR YOUTH 2011. - Best Documentary Film;

 EDDA AWARDS 2010. – Documentary of the Year

How much unspoiled nature should we preserve and what do we sacrifice for clean, renewable energy? Dreamland gradually turns into a disturbing picture of corporate power taking over nature and small communities. It’s the dark side of green energy.

Þorfinnur Guðnason is a documentary filmmaker of genuine talent being Iceland’s most established filmmaker in the field. He began his career working for the Icelandic Broadcasting Company and worked for years as a cinematographer, editor and producer. In the early nineties he started making his own exceptionally creative and charming documentaries.

Andri Snær Magnason is an Icelandic writer. He has written novels, poetry, plays, short stories, essays and CD's. His work has been published or performed in more than 25 countries. His most recent work is the book Dreamland, a highly praised work of non-fiction dealing with many issues in modern Iceland, mostly environmentalism but also the US Army being in the country, inconsistencies in policies regarding towns outside of Reykjavík.
