Synopsis

Alia is an Afghan-Irish girl torn between two lives. When her secret relationship with an Irish boy comes to her sister’s attention it forces the family to make a decision that could ultimately tear it apart.

Claire Dix is an Irish filmmaker, working in both fiction and documentary film. Her short film Downpour was funded by the Irish Film Board and has won a total of eight international awards including Best Irish Short at Foyle Film Festival 2011. Her debut feature film Broken Song, an observational arts documentary about members of the Dublin hip hop collective Street Literature, premiered at the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival 2013 where it won the Audience Award and the Dublin Critics Circle, Michael Dwyer Discovery Award.
