A lot of celebrities led by Vukovar's mayor took part in the opening of the luckiest 13th Vukovar Film Festival!

Vukovar Film Festival is surely one of the most important and tmost significant cultural events in Croatia. Tonight spectacular fireworks opened the luckiest 13th edition in wich more than 60 movies will be screened on 6 locations and in 11 categories in the four days period. The social elite of Vukovar and Slavonia attended the grand opening that took place on its traditional location, the terrace of the Agency for Waterways right next to Danube tonight.

Vukovar's mayor, Mr. Ivan Penava greeted the guests of  the crowded terrace and opened the festival, followed by spectacular fireworks. Besides the mayor, the festival was enriched by the arrival of actresses Sandra Loncaric, Anita Schmidt and her husband Davor Spisic, the new CEO of HAVC Chris Marcich, this year's festival jury Jasna Nanut, Miodrag Sila and Djelo Hadziselimovic and actress Snjezana Sinovcic – Siskov who played the main role in the film „All Alone“ directed by Bobo Jelcic, the film that opened the 13th edition of Vukovar Film Festival. All of them were led by the director, producer and main selector of the festival, Igor Rakonic.

This year's festival also differed from the usual by the fact that Croatian Film Directors Association decided to hand out the Fabijan Sovagovic award to important Croatian actress Ingeborg Appelt. In her speech, the representative of CFDA Jasna Nanut stated that the special thing about the award is the fact that it was handed out only 60 kilometers away from Sovagovic's village where he was born – Ladimirevci.

Lucky 13th edition of Vukovar Film Festival will last until Sunday, July 7th. Except the opening film in long feature film category, the audience will be able to watch German drama „System Crasher“ that won two awards at Berlin Film Festival, Czech Oscar candidate, comedy-drama „Winter Flies“ and Hungarian box-office hit „Happy New Year“. Besides films in long feature film category, Vukovar Film Festival also hands out the award Golden scow in the category short feature film and in the category for documentary films. The latter category has a hidden jewel – documentary „Nebeska Tema“ about Vlado Divljan, the singer of the popular band Idoli.

Apart from the competitive program, on the four days of the festival one can enjoy the rich accompanying program led by the winners of Berlin and Cannes in the Eltz castle park, Palm d'Or winner „Parasite“ and the Golden Bear winner, Israeli film „Synonims“.
