Vukovar Film Festival is nominated for 2019. EFFE award! It is Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe's traditional award that is handed out every other year by The European Festival Association. This way Vukovar Film Festival, the only Croatian film festival with a long history of EFFE label, got a special recognition from The European Festival Association. As one of the most important and the highest quality film festival in Croatia, Vukovar Film Festival which lasts from July 4th to July 7th with this prestige award has made a significal impact as one of the leading festivals in Croatia.

This year the leader of the international jury hosting eleven members from different European countries is Sir Jonathan Mills, ex CEO of Edinburgh International Culture Summit. This biennial prize celebrates arts festivals that demonstrate artistic excellence and at the same time have a strong impact on the local and regional development of cultural cooperation. EFFE – Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe is initiated by the European Festivals Association and supported by the European Commission and European Parlament.

Vukovar Film Festival has become one of the twenty-four European cultural events that was nominated for the award which ceremony will be held in Brussels on September 26^th. Our festival was selected from a list of 715 festivals with the EFFE label which stands for festivals that are committed to the arts, their communities and demonstrate openness to the world. All the festivals are presented on a website www.festivalfinder.eu, interactive search engine for European art festivals.

With the decision of EFFE’s international jury about this year’s laureates, The European Festival Association has also announced EFFE people choice awards. Starting today on the website www.festivalfinder.eu an online poll has been made for audience from around the world where they can cast their vote for their favourite festival including Vukovar Film Festival. It will be active until the award ceremony on September 26^th. Therefore, we invite everyone interested to vote for our most important film festival held in the most beautiful city on Danube.

Vukovar Film Festival will be held for the 13^th time from July 4^th to July 7^th. During the four days of the festival, over 60 films in 11 categories will be screened out of which three are in competitive program - long feature film, short feature film and documentary film. Some of the latest films from directors Pedro Almodovar, Fatih Akin, Dardenne brothers, Paolo Sorrentino and others will be screened on festival’s out of competition program.  A special treat will definitely be „The Winners of Berlin and Cannes“ category in which Vukovar audience will be the first one to have a chance to see the premiere of the Golden Bear winner in Berlin („Synonims“) and the Palm d'Or winner in Cannes („Parasite“).
