Summary:

In the suburbs of Bucharest, boys like to spend their evenings playing ping-pong on the building roof. There they lean over the edge and watch the prostitutes at their picking up station. 13-year-old Andrei falls seriously in love with Marilena, and makes various attempts to gain her favours. Young lads falling in love with tarts with hearts can be terribly hackneyed and cute, but that's not the case here. Magical realist take, via dreams, of pre-adolescent desire. Very funny and very bleak.

Biography

Cristian Nemescu was born in 1979, he graduated from the Academy of Theater and Film in Bucharest (2003). His short feature ‘C Block Story’ was awarded on several international film festivals. In 2006 he died in a car crash in Bucharest. His last movie California Dreamin' (‘Nesfarsit’), which received Un Certain Regard in Cannes 2007, was in post-production, when the accident happened.
