18.08.2010. 19:05:32

4th Vukovar Film Festival - festival of the Danube countries will be held from 25th to 29th August.

Along with the winner of Berlin's Golden Bear (Honey / Bal), in the official competition we're showing the winner of the Berlin Silver Bear, the Romanian-Swedish film from Florin Serban, If I want to whistle, I'll whistle / Candi Eu Vreau Sa Fluier, Fluier.

The film is about a young man Silviu, who is waiting release out of the correctional home in five days, but all that gets complicated and his release permanently postponed. The official competition will be Hungarian film, Pál Adrienne, directed by Ágnes Kocsis, recently shown at the most important film festivals, such as in Cannes, will also participate. Movie's about a lonely nurse who loves to "smear" cream cakes as she looks for long-lost childhood friend and makes a trip filled with memories of her own and of those she meet.

Amongst short films in the competition, we would single out a Croatian film by Sash Ban „Interior, apartment, night“ about a young couple quarreling trough the night, starring Bojan Navojec and Mary Škaričić. This great short won several national awards, including the Award of Saloon of the Rejected  at 18th Croatian Film Days.

In documentary competition we have the German-Swiss-Austrian film „David wants to fly / David wants to fly“ about a young man (director David Sieveking) in search of inspiration, who decides to take the advice of his idol David Lynch, and begins to explore transcendental meditation, which comes up to be full of controversy. With David, documentaries fans would have a chance to se Slovakian film „Hranica / Border“. A film about a small Slovakian village, which was divided between the USSR and Czechoslovakia after the Second World War. The village was cut in half by barbed-wire stretched ruthlessly between houses, dividing the cemetery and the land, just as many families in a period of several decades.

This year there are two main locations where the films are shown: the river barge and Ružička's house. The third location is Cinema Borovo naselje where matinees for children, and barge movies rerun will be shown. Free camp on Vukovar River Islan is open and free to all film fans this year!
