Summary:

Mother literally drowns herself in alcohol, father is about to do so, sister is never at home, and auntie is an alcoholic herself… Anyone growing up in this environment doesn’t have a chance. It seems to be different for San Sanych, apparently the only sane person in the insane world that surrounds him. The camera follows him over the period of one year. There are no beautiful pictures, but hard pan shots and breathless moving about from one place to another.

Everything seems fragmented, nothing coherent or composed. In his first documentary, telling the classical coming-of-age-story, the young film-maker is convincing with his undisguised look at the reality of a country that is scarcely mentioned in our media.

Biography

George Agagenean was born in 1986 in Chisinau, Moldova. In 2002 he enters the Academy of Music and Fine Arts, the faculty of TV Directing.

In 2004 he shot his first film, the documentary ’Square N 1’. The film ‘San Sanych’ is his diploma work, for his graduation in 2007.
