DANIEL RAFAELIC'S BOOK PROMOTION "FILM PRODUCTION IN ICS"

Croatian film history is relatively poorly covered with many relevant issues. Cinematographic period 1941 to 1945 also was often circumvented and skipped. For the first time, in one place, the book of a film historian Daniel Rafaelić brings professional, comprehensive and readable history of cinema of the Independent Croatian State.

A detailed analysis of all the films and newsreels produced in its territory as well as the synthesis of several thousand detected and processed archival documents from Zagreb, Belgrade, Berlin and Rome, portray cinema of satellite state whose propaganda literally overlap with those of Nazi Germany. However, numerous cinematic dissidents offered resistance to the ruling repressive apparatus and the book speaks of them for the first time. So far unseen manuscripts, photos and movie posters will be published for the first time. Many rare items that are kept in the global film archives will for the first time in the book „Film production in ICS" see the light of day. A separate part of the book consists of valuable interviews with some of the most important actors in the film business at the time, which the author of the book managed to do before their death.

The book, written in the form of research, in an accessible manner, outlines cinematic, economic, social and general cultural texture of all branches of cinema, setting for the first time real scientific questions and offering no ideological or political, but purely scientific answers.
