There is no need for a special introduction for director Zvjagincev. This Russian native's debut "The Return" thrilled the world in 2003. Also, he has had great success with another excellent movie "Elena".
His latest movie Leviathan, which was widely praised upon release, takes place in today's Russia, which is ruled by drunk kids, corrupt leaders and women of dubious morals.
One not-too-united family is in great danger when a local leader threatens its survival. References to Russia under Putin which were launched after seeing the movie, were unavoidable.
The movie Leviathan (the name of a mythical sea-monster) has won the award for best screenplay at the last year's Cannes Film Festival.
This exceptional title will have his Croatian premiere at the 8th Vukovar Film Festival where the film will be shown as part of the Side program World the very first day of the festival in the park of castle Eltz at 21h.
